Trivia[]

Design origin[]

Calphite is based on an Indricotherium, a giant hornless rhinoceros-like mammal from the Oligocene epoch. Seeing as to how it has a horn, it probably also draws inspiration from modern-day rhinoceros, such as the Indian rhinoceros.

Name origin[]

Calphite's name is a corruption of calcite, a common mineral found in sedimentary rocks. It incorporates the sound of calf, referring to the young of large mammals.
