Camil is the Shaman of an ancient tribe with a deep spiritual connection to nature. Distrustful of outsiders, little is known about her. She has vast knowledge of Urobos' natural history, and is implied to be descended from the original tribes who worshipped the Nature Spirits. She dislikes modernization as it separates them from nature. As a shaman, she carries out burial rights, communes with and preserve the memory of tribal ancestors, and helps lost souls find peace. As a medicine person, she has vast knowledge of both the healing and damaging power of plants, and is responsible for preserving the natural world and communing with the spirits of nature. In battle, she relies on special moves and status-affecting attacks and is not afraid to use natural healing items.
Camil's name is a Nahuatl female name found in the Matrícula de Huexotzinco, a 16th century census document notable for collecting a lot of information about life in Mexico at the time. The word is notable because the glyph representing it is shaped like a flower, and because it is related to the term camilihui, which means "to become brown". Both of these aspects come together to reference Camil's thematic connection to nature and decay.
The base design chosen for Camil was the final one to be submitted.
The design of Camil's clothing evokes calaveras, skulls made of sugar used in the Mexican celebration of Día de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead. Her headdress takes inspiration from feather headdresses worn by different indigenous South American peoples, such as the Guaraní.
