Trivia [ ]
Design origin [ ]
Early concept art of Capabara.
Capig is based on various cavies like the capybara , the largest species of South American rodent. Its fur pattern is reminiscent of a chullo , an Andean style of hat.
Discussion and conceptualisation of the regional rodent began not long after the earliest confirmations (or at least agreements) on the starter Pokémon designs. The role of 'early game regional rodent' was one of the last '/vp/ makes a PokéDex' roles to have an individual discussion thread seperate to the newly-founded general thread.
Name origin [ ]
Capabara's name is a combination of cap and capybara .
