Early design for Erycoon

• Erycoon was originally intended to evolve into Leukoon, but was later turned into a counterpart to it instead.

Design origin

Erycoon is based on red blood cells, also called erythrocytes. Red blood cells transport oxygen and nutrients throughout the body, similar to how Erycoon carries berries around and supports the forest life around it. Its physical appearance is based on a red panda.

Name origin

Erycoon's name is a combination of erythrocyte and raccoon, a species related to the red panda.
