Design origin[]

Howlequin is based on a dalmatian and a jester. Its coloration also invokes black and red playing card suits. In that same vein, it also invokes Joker playing cards.

Name origin[]

Howlequin's name is a combination of howl and harlequin, a mischievous and light-hearted character archetype from the Italian commedia dell'arte.
