• A trainer class from canonical Pokémon games very similar to the Monk is the Sage (Known as ぼうず Monk in Japanese). Both of them are styled after different kinds of Buddhist monks, with Sages resembling Japanese monks, whereas Pokémon Sage's Monks resemble Shaolin monks.
