  • Squink's Pokédex entry is a reference to the use of squid ink as a flavoring and food coloring in Mediterranean and Japanese cuisine.

Design origin[]

Squink is based on a squid. A common misconception of this line is that they are aquatic. In reality, Squink and Squidrift are both unable to swim, with Squink being a land-dwelling organism and Squidrift being an aerial organism.
