Standoff is a non-damaging Dark-type move. It is an original Pokémon Sage move. It is TM103.

Effect[]

Standoff prevents both the user and the target from switching out or fleeing (including via Teleport). It bypasses accuracy checks to always hit, unless the opponent is in the semi-invulnerable turn of a move such as Dig or Fly. The effect only applies as long as both affected Pokémon remain in battle; as soon as one faints or otherwise leaves the battle, the other can switch out. It will also make both the user and target always score critical hits.

An affected Pokémon can still switch out via Baton Pass, U-turn and Volt Switch. If an affected Pokémon is Roared at or hit with a Whirlwind, Dragon Tail or Circle Throw, they will still be switched out.

If a wild Pokémon uses Standoff, the player will be unable to escape the battle, unless the player's Pokémon has Run Away or is holding a Smoke Ball.
