Trivia[]

Design origin[]

Cs2

Early concept art for Trenchula.

Trenchula is based on a tarantula and a drill. It retains a single eye-like gem in the center of its head which is reminiscent of a miner's hard hat headlamp. Trenchula also takes inspiration from different species of trapdoor spiders, in particular the genus Cyclocosmia, whose abdomens end in hard, grooved discs, not dissimlar to the drill on the end of Trenchula's abdomen.

Name origin[]

Trenchula's name is a combination of trench and tarantula.
